A panel presentation originating from the AANA Health and Wellness Committee is proposed, consisting of a nurse anesthesia program director; a clinical faculty member; a student, and a wellness coach. Panel members, ending with wellness coach, each describe wellness threats and mitigation strategies used in successful wellness programs.
The American Association of Nurse Anesthetists is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

Catherine Horvath is an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University's School of Nursing and is the Assistant Program Director in the DNP Program Nurse Anesthesiology Track. As an educator for 11 years and clinical provider for 28 years, she has witnessed the toll stress and uncertainty has on students entering the profession of nurse anesthesia.
Dr. Nola Rupprecht lives and works in Houston, Texas. She is passionate about helping students, clinicians, and faculty in the subjects of wellness and self-care. Her particular area of interest is the prevention of substance use disorder within the anesthesia professional.
Nicole is a Nurse Anesthesia Doctoral Candidate and former Trauma Nurse. Before entering healthcare, she served in the Army National Guard helping to facilitate the Master Resilience program developed at the University of Pennsylvania. Her work in resilience led her to join UPENN's team, continuing to train military service men and women alongside pioneers in the field of Positive Psychology. Following her passion for resilience and burnout prevention, Nicole brought her knowledge to the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics where she worked to implement a burnout prevention program as an Evidence Based Practice Fellow. Currently, Nicole is completing her final year in Nurse Anesthesia school and joined the AANA Health and Wellness Committee in August of last year.
Melissa Machan, DNP, CRNA, ARNP works full time as a Nurse Anesthetist at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center, NC. In addition, Dr. Machan serves as Adjunct Professor in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Anesthesiology program at Barry University, Miami Shores, FL, where she lectures on a variety of clinical anesthesia and essential DNP topics. She is currently serving on AANA's Health and Wellness Committee.
