Do you and your plastic surgeon find yourself at odds over vasopressor usage during free flap surgery? This session will cover the limited available evidence on whether vasopressors are contraindicated during free flap surgery and the other areas of anesthesia management that can improve the survival of your patient’s free flap.

Dawn Borth Lewellen, CRNA has practiced trauma anesthesia for 30 years and is currently at Parkland Hospital, Dallas, TX, a Level 1 Trauma Center. She serves as the CRNA Education Coordinator, co-chair of the Patient Blood Management Committee, and is involved with trauma quality improvement.
She attended Texas Wesleyan University graduating in 1990 with a Master in Health Science in Nurse Anesthesia and in 2020, she completed her Doctor in Nursing Practice from Texas Christian University. She is adjunct faculty at Texas Wesleyan University.
Dawn was selected as the 2014 APRN of the Year at Parkland Hospital, Dallas-Fort Worth Great 100 Nurse in 2016, and D Magazine Excellence in Nursing Award in 2019.
