There is a need to create communities to help nurses innovate, create and collaborate to start businesses to transform healthcare. Nurses are incorporated into every stage of healthcare design, including wellness in the workplace.
The New England Assembly of Schools Faculty Development Workshop / Art Zwerling Consensus Conference held in 2019 was filmed with the intended purpose to meet the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs (COA) requirement for Health & Wellness/Substance Use Disorder (SUD) curriculum and continuing education. The five lectures build consensus on (re) defining a healthy work environment and introduce to faculty and students alike concepts of healthy coping skills and resiliency strategies to reduce stress and maintain a healthy lifestyle. These strategies practiced, along with knowledge gained, can help prevent unhealthy coping and mitigate the occupational risk of SUD among anesthesia professionals. The significance of this learning is to create a healthier student body, workforce, and as a consequence, to optimize patient safety.
