The purpose of this activity is to present outcomes of the implementation of the Amputation Improved Recovery (AIR) Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol. Providers will have the opportunity to evaluate and implement new therapies into practice, in order to benefit the growing number of surgical amputation patients worldwide. 

The American Association of Nurse Anesthetists is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

AANA is an approved provider by the California Board of Registered Nursing, CEP #10862.

Virginia Chris Muckler, DNP, CRNA, CHSE, is an Associate Professor with the Duke University Nurse Anesthesia Program in Durham, North Carolina nad a practicing nurse anesthetist. Dr. Muckler is a veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of the Duke University Health System Institutional Review Board and has held state and national elected positions. Dr. Muckler serves on the Continued Professional Certification Airway Panel for the National Board of Certification and Recertification as a reviewer for multiple journals, is a National League for Nursing Simulation Leader, and has served as a simulation consultant within the continental United States and abroad. In her role as the primary simulation educator for the Duke NAP, Dr. Muckler has designed and implemented simulation scenarios for the NAP as well as multiple interprofessional simulation events, presented at faculty development simulation workshops, and serves on the Duke School of Nursing simulation center advisory board. Dr. Muckler is a member of SSH and INACSL among other professional organizations and her primary research interests are focused on simulation-based education including suspension of disbelief.
