Regardless of location, size of facility, weather, and socioeconomic background, there is one thing for sure: moms will have babies. From excellent accessibility to healthcare like in a large city such as New York or Seattle to the rural towns, there will be obstetric patients needing anesthesia services that are compassionate, effective, and safe. It is also true that when it comes to obstetric patients, there is sometimes zero time to plan, transfer or delay care. One aspect that has not been explored more profoundly is the increased prevalence of morbid obesity and obstetric patients and how the congruency of these two conditions can exponentially increase the risk of complications to the mother and baby.
